Children in Need by Darren James Childern
in need is very soon and I do hope you are all watching BBC3 at 8pm on
Friday. This is Celebrity
Scissorhands, a handfull of people who have been asked to learn a new skill....and
oh its hard. This is for charity and it is also great
telly so I hope you all watch and learn that hairdressing is skilled work. These
guys are being helped and trained by the talented Lee
Stafford, but I must say he has got his work cut out (excuse the pun).
As for myself and my team at Darren
James in Christchurch well we are giving away FREE
haircuts. All we are asking for is a donation for the childern, so I hope we raise
some money for this very important charity. I will let
you know how we did and I hope its LOADS of money. |
| Crown
& Glory by Darren James Welcome
fashion fans to my first column. My name is Darren James and I am a professional
hair stylist & salon owner. Hairdressing has been my life for the past 16
years, and is my work & passion. Being a member of the fellowship
for British Hairdressing enables me to participate in demonstrations and attend
seminars, which means that we all get to follow the latest trends.
It is
my job to pass on tips and ideas from the best of british hairdressing,(myself
included) and I will try to give you as many helpful hints as possible, along
with interviews from some outstanding stylist's. |
During
the year all hair companies will tell you and me that we must buy from them, so
I will try to find what is best for us all! The products I will be mainly reviewing
will be salon exclusive so start looking to see what's on those salon shelves.
Schwarzkopf, Wella, and L`Oreal, are just a very small number of companies that
are looking for your business in the salon and on the high street so keep an eye
out for those names.
As a stylist I
always use the best I can on my clients, but you must make sure that the products
you are using are right for your hair and pocket.

Firstly, and the most important,
start with the shampoo and work right through to which finishing products they
use. If the word "lacquer" rather than spray is used, it may be too
late to make a quick exit.
There is
no point going to the salon and spending cold hard cash on your hair and then
buying a 6 litre bottle of shampoo for £ 2.99, that's like going to eat
at Gordon Ramsey`s and asking for tomato sauce ( Ahhhhhhh!!!!!!!! ).
As a client you must understand your stylist is trying to help you. If your hair
feels great then your cut will look fantastic and benefit you and your hairdresser.
If on the other hand you are using supermarket specials on your long lovely hair,
trust me, it won't be lovely for long.
Many people are spending £`s on face cream, but not on the thing that frames
it. So the moral of the story is that a salon product will cost a few pence more,
however as it is a better quality then will last you longer and you can rest assured
that it comes with professional recommendation, and not on the advice of a 16yr
old at your local Boots.
In future columns I will review the mine field of
shampoos, equipment, and colours.
My
reviews will be honest and straight forward, so you can benefit from my experience
and good looks, sorry meant to say talent.
Darren
James.
